COUNTY ELECTORAL AREAS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1985.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941) hereby orders as follows:—

1 ..

1. This Order may be cited as the County Electoral areas (Amendment) Order, 1985.

2 Carlow.

2. The Schedule to the Carlow County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 46 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Ballinacarrig, Clogrenan and Kellistown and the townlands of Ballybar Upper, Ballyloo, Clonmelsh and Linkardstown in the district electoral division of Nurney and the townlands of Boolyrathornan or Tomard and Tomard Upper in the district electoral division of Rathornan from the Carlow county electoral area to the Muinebeag county electoral area; and

(2) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Corries and Sliguff and the townlands of Ballyellin and Tomdarragh, Clomoney, Kilcumney, Knockmanus and Oldtown in the District electoral division of Ballyellin from the Muinebeag county electoral area to the Borris county electoral area.

3 Cavan.

3. The Schedule to the Cavan County Council Order, 1942 is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Arvagh, Corr and Springfield from the Cavan county electoral area to the Belturbet county electoral area; and

(2) the transfer of the district electoral division of Tullyvin West from the Cavan county electoral area to the Bailieborough county electoral area.

4 Kilkenny.

4. The Schedule to the Kilkenny County Council (Amendment) Order, 1945 is hereby amended by:—

(1) the addition of the district electoral divisions of Dunbell, Gowran, Paulstown and Shankill to the Thomastown county electoral area;

(2) the addition of the district electoral division of Freshford and the townlands of Ballyrafton, Inchbeg and Inchmore in the district electoral division of Coolcraheen and the townlands of Ballydaniel, Borris Big, Carrigeen, Earlsbog, Kilaree, Knockgrace, Leugh, Lushkinnagh, Monafrica, Naglesland, Purcelsgarden, Simonsland, Threecastle and Threecastles Demesne in the district electoral division of Odagh and the townlands of Acragar, Blackwood, Clone, Lisduff, Moneenaun, Skinstown and Sweethill in the district electoral division of Rathbeagh to the Ballyragget county electoral area;

(3) the substitution of the following matter for the matter relating to the Kilkenny county electoral area—

5 Laoighis.

5. The Schedule to the Laoighis County Council Order, 1942 is hereby amended by:—

(1) the addition of the district electoral divisions of Mountrath and Trumra to the Borris-in-Ossory county electoral area;

(2) the insertion, after the entry in relation to the Borris-in-Ossory county Electoral area, of the following matter—

6 Leitrim.

6. The Schedule to the Leitrim County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 21 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Gortnagullion, Keshcarrigan and Leitrim from the Carrick-on-Shannon county electoral area to the Drumahaire county electoral area; and

(2) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Cloonlogher, Lurganboy and Sramore from the Drumahaire county electoral area to the Manorhamilton county electoral area.

7 Longford.

7. The Schedule to the Longford County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1974 ) as amended by the Longford County Council (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 50 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the townlands of Ardnacassagh, Cooleeny, Coolnahinch, Corrabaun, Feraghfad, Kilnasavoge, Knockanaw, Lisnamuck, Templemichael Glebe and Whiterock in the district electoral division of Longford Rural from the Longford county electoral area to the Ballinalee county electoral area;

(2) the transfer of the district electoral division of Killashee from the Longford county electoral area to the Ballymahon county electoral area;

(3) the transfer of the townlands of Aghnamaddoo, Ballincurry, Bawn, Breanrisk, Carrickmoyragh, Cartrongar, Cloonagh, Cloonellan, Cloonmacart, Cloontagh, Currygranny, Derrynacrit, Kilnashee, Leitrim and Prucklish in the district electoral division of Breanrisk from the Longford county electoral area to the Drumlish county electoral area;

(4) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Bunlahy and Gelshagh from the Ballinalee county electoral area to the Granard county electoral area; and

(5) the transfer of the townlands of Aghakine, Aghnacliff, Carrickadorrish, Sonnagh and Inchmore Island and two other islands in Lough Gowna in the district electoral division of Sonnagh from the Drumlish county electoral area to the Granard county electoral area.

8 Louth.

8. The Louth County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 32 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the substitution of "1st day of April, 1985" for "date of this Order" in article 4.

(2) the addition, after article 4 of the said Order, of the following article—

"(5) In the Schedule to this Order—

(1) a reference to a line drawn along any road, street, avenue, bridge, gardens, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line, terrace, wall or fence shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre of such road, street, avenue, bridge, gardens, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line, terrace, wall or fence;

(2) a reference to the point at which any road, street, avenue, bridge, gardens, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line, terrace, wall or fence intersects or joins any road, street, avenue, bridge, gardens, lane, pedestrian under-crossing, river, railway line, terrace, wall or fence shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of the one would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other; and

(3) a reference to the point at which any road, street, avenue, bridge, lane, river, railway line, wall or fence intersects or joins a boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of such road, street, avenue, bridge, lane, river, railway line, wall or fence intersects or joins such boundary.

and the part of the Urban District of Dundalk situated within a line drawn as follows:—

9 Mayo.

9. The Schedule to the Mayo County Council (Amendment) Order, 1945, as amended by the Mayo County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 40 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral division of Balla and the townlands of Ballinamore, Camderrynabinnia, Carrowndangan, Craggagh, Cuillalea, Derryvohy and Largan in the district electoral division of Ballinamore from the Castlebar county electoral area to the Swineford county electoral area; and

(2) the transfer of the townlands of Knocknaskeagh and Oxford in the district electoral division of Ballinamore from the Claremorris county electoral area to the Swineford county electoral area.

10 Meath.

10. The Schedule to the Meath County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 33 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Athboy, Girley, Grennanstown, Martry and Rathmore and the townlands of Bloomsberry, Fyanstown, Grange Glebe, Oristown, Rossmeen and Teltown in the district electoral division of Teltown from the Navan county electoral area to the Ceanannus Mor county electoral area;

(2) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Rathfeigh, Skreen and Tara from the Dunshaughlin county electoral area to the Navan county electoral area; and

(3) the transfer of the district electoral division of Gallow from the Dunshaughlin county electoral area to the Trim county electoral area.

11 Monaghan.

11. The Schedule to the Monaghan County Council (Amendment) Order, 1945 is hereby amended by the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Clones (in the former rural district of Monaghan) and Scotstown from the Monaghan county electoral area to the Clones county electoral area.

12 Offaly.

12. The Schedule to the Offaly County Council Order, 1942 is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Banagher, Lusmagh and Mounterin from the Ferbane county electoral area to the Birr county electoral area; and

(2) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Bawn, Ballycumber, Killoughy, Rahan and Rathrobin from the Tullamore county electoral area to the Ferbane county electoral area.

13 Roscommon.

13. The Roscommon County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by the substitution, for the Schedule thereto, of the following Schedule

(2) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Gortkelly and Moyaliff from the Thurles county electoral area to the Nenagh county electoral area.

15 Tipperary South Riding.

15. The Schedule to the Tipperary (S.R.) County Council order, 1942 as amended by the Tipperary (South Riding) County Council (Amendment) Order, 1945 is hereby amended by:—

(1) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Ballyclerahan and Inishlounaght from the Clonmel county electoral area to the Caher county electoral area; and

(2) the transfer of the district electoral division of Colman from the Clonmel county electoral area to the Fethard county electoral area.

16 Waterford.

16. The Schedule to the Waterford County Council Order, 1942 as amended by the Waterford County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 52 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by the transfer of the district electoral division of Modelligo (in the former rural district of Lismore) from the Dungarvan county electoral area to the Lismore county electoral area.

17 Westmeath.

17. The Schedule to the Westmeath County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 34 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(1) the addition of the district electoral divisions of Emper, Kilbixy, Riverdale, Stonehall and Woodland to the Coole county electoral area;

(2) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Ardnagragh, Bellanalack, Doonis, Drumraney, Mount Temple and Noughaval from the Athlone county electoral area to the Kilbeggan county electoral area;

(3) the deletion of the reference to the district electoral divisions of Enniscoffey, Gaybrook, Griffinstown, Kinnegad and Milltown in the entry in relation to the Kilbeggan county electoral area;

(4) the deletion of the matter relating to the Mullingar county electoral area; and

(5) the addition, after the entry in relation to the Kilbeggan county electoral area, of the following matter—
