CARLOW COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 , (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows:—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Carlow County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974.

(2) This Order and the Carlow County Council Order, 1942, may be cited collectively as the Carlow County Council Orders, 1942 and 1974.

2. The Carlow County Council (Amendment) Order, 1945, is hereby revoked.

3. (1) The County of Carlow shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Every such county electoral area shall consist of the areas set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the Council of the County of Carlow to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

4. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division, urban district or townland shall be construed as referring to such district electoral division, urban district or townland as existing at the date of this Order.

Ballyfeanan or Ballywhinnin, Ballymartin, Currane and Kilcloney in the District Electoral Division of Ballyellin; Carrig More, Clonacur and Toberbride in the District Electoral Division of Ballymoon.

Carlow

The District Electoral Divisions of:—

Ballinacarrig, Burtonhall, Carlow Rural, Clogrenan, Johnstown, Kellistown, Nurney (excluding the townlands of Ballyryan, Cloghristick, Garryhundon, Nurney, Oldtown, Orchard and Powerstown);

the townlands of Boolyrathornan or Tomard, and Tomard Upper in the District Electoral Division of Rathornan;

and the Urban District of Carlow.

Muinebeag

The District Electoral Divisions of:—

Agha, Ballyellin (excluding the townlands of Ballyfeanan or Ballywhinnin, Ballymartin, Currane and Kilcloney), Ballymoon (excluding the townlands of Carrig More, Clonacur and Toberbride), Corries, Fennagh, Leighlinbridge, Muinebeag Rural, Muinebeag Urban, Old Leighlin, Rathornan (excluding the townlands of Boolyrathornan or Tomard and Tomard Upper), Rathrush (excluding the townland of Rathtoe), Ridge, Sliguff, Templepeter;

Tullow

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to divide Carlow County into four county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Carlow County Council and to fix the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
