S.I. No. 33 of 1974.

MEATH COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 , (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows:—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Meath County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974.

(2) This Order and the Meath County Council Order, 1942, may be cited collectively as the Meath County Council Orders, 1942 and 1974.

2. Article 3 of and the Schedule to the Meath County Coucil Order, 1942 are hereby revoked.

3. (1) The County of Meath shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Every such county electoral area shall consist of the places set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the Council of the County of Meath to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

4. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division, urban district or townland shall be construed as a reference to such district electoral division, urban district or townland as existing at the date of this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to divide Meath County into five county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Meath County Council and to fix the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
