CORK TRAFFIC BYE-LAWS, 1971.

I, MICHAEL J. WYMES, Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 89 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) (as amended by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968)), with the consent of the Minister for Local Government and after consultation with the Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of the county borough of Cork, hereby make the following bye-laws in respect of the area comprising the county borough of Cork:—

1 Short title.

1. These bye-laws may be cited as the Cork Traffic Bye-Laws, 1971.

2 Area of application.

2. These bye-laws apply to the area comprising the county borough of Cork.

3 Revocations.

3. The Cork Traffic Bye-Laws, 1939 (S.R. and O., 134 of 1939), the Cork Traffic (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1949 ( S.I. No. 173 of 1949 ), the Cork Traffic (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1956 ( S.I. No. 317 of 1956 ), and the Cork Traffic (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1958 ( S.I. No. 28 of 1958 ), are hereby revoked.

4 Compliance with traffic signs.

4. A driver shall comply with a prohibition, restriction or requirement indicated by means of a traffic sign.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

1. These bye-laws may be cited as the Cork Traffic Bye-Laws, 1971.

2. These bye-laws shall apply to the area comprising the county borough of Cork.

3. These bye-laws revoke the Cork Traffic Bye-Laws, 1939 (S.R. and O., 134 of 1939), the Cork Traffic (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1949 ( S.I. No. 173 of 1949 ), the Cork Traffic (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1956 ( S.I. No. 317 of 1956 ), and the Cork Traffic (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1958 ( S.I. No. 28 of 1958 ).

4. Bye-Law 4 provides that a driver shall comply with a prohibition, restriction or requirement indicated by means of a traffic sign.
