REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES (REDUCED FEES) REGULATIONS, 1982.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 (No. 8 of 1952), by section 114 (2) of the Factories Act, 1955 (No. 10 of 1955), by section 150 (2) of the Mines and Quarries Act, 1965 (No. 7 of 1965), by section 5 (3) of the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 (No. 9 of 1977) and by section 303 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 , (No. 1 of 1981 ), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism, the Minister for Education, the Minister for Social Welfare and the Minister for Labour hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Reduced Fees) Regulations, 1982.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1982.

3. ( a ) The amount of the fee for a certificate of birth, death or marriage fixed by any of the enactments to which this article applies is hereby altered to twenty-five pence.

( b ) The enactments to which this article applies are: section 10 of the Savings Bank Act, 1887; section 97 of the Friendly Societies Act, 1896; section 19 of the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926); section 120 of the Vocational Education Act, 1930 (No. 29 of 1930); sections 51 and 64 of the Insurance Act, 1936 (No. 45 of 1936); section 303 (1) of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981).

4. The Factories Act, 1955 (Birth Certificates) Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 248 of 1956 ) and the Mines and Quarries Act, 1965 (Birth Certificates) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 110 of 1970 ) are hereby revoked.

5. The appointed fee for the purposes of section 114 of the Factories Act, 1955 , section 150 of the Mines and Quarries Act, 1965 and section 5 (2) of the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 for a certified copy of an entry in a register of births shall be twenty-five pence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to fix at 25p the fee payable with effect from 1st April, 1982 for birth, death and marriage certificates issued at reduced rates for the purposes of certain enactments.
