LICENSING OF SEA FISHING BOATS (EXEMPTION) (REVOCATION) REGULATIONS, 1994.

I, HUGH COVENEY, Minister for the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (4) (b) of Section 222B (inserted by Section 2 of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 27 of 1983)) of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959 (No. 14 of 1959), and the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1977 ) (as adopted by Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 1987 ( S.I. No. 82 of 1987 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Licensing of Sea Fishing Boats (Exemption) (Revocation) Regulations, 1994.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1995.

2. The Licensing of Sea-Fishing Boats (Exemption) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 245 of 1983 ) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to revoke the licensing of Sea Fishing Boats (Exemption) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 245 of 1983 ) whereby vessels of 65 feet and under were exempted from the provisions of Section 222B of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959 which requires that sea fishing boats shall not fish except under a sea fishing boat licence granted in respect of the boat by the Minister.
