COUNTY ELECTORAL AREAS (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1985.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941) and section 21 of the Local Government (Reorganisation) Act, 1985 (No. 7 of 1985), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the County Electoral Areas (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1985.

2 Clare.

2. (1) The total number of members of the Council of the County of Clare shall be 32.

(2) Article (2) of the Clare County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked.

(3) The Schedule to the Clare County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 48 of 1974 ), as amended by the Clare County Council (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 83 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by—

( a ) the substitution of the following matter for the matter relating to the Ennis County Electoral area—

Ennis

The Urban District of Ennis:—

and the townlands of Ballycorey, Ballymaley, Bunnow, Cappahard, Drumcliff, Dulick, Gaurus, Knockaderry, Knockanoura, Lifford, Newpark, Rosslevan, and Ennis Island in the District Electoral Division of Ennis Rural;

and the part of the townland of Clonroad More situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the intersection of the northern boundary of the townland by an imaginary line drawn along the centre of the Ennis-Clarecastle Road; thence in a southwesterly direction along the said line to its intersection by the southern boundary of the townland; thence commencing in a northeasterly direction and proceeding along the southern, eastern and northern boundary of the townland to the starting point

( b ) the addition to the Ennistymon county electoral area of—

( c ) the addition to the Killaloe county electoral area of:—

the district electoral divisions of Cratloe, Killeely and Mountievers; and the townland of Glennagross in the district electoral division of Ballycannan; Ballycullen, Castlecrine and Coolycasey in the district electoral division of Castlecrine; Annagh in the district electoral division of Kiltannon; and Moygalla in the district electoral area of Rossroe;

( d ) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Ballynacally, Clondagad, Kilchreest, Killadysert, Liscasey and Lisheen and the townland of Crag in the district electoral division of Glenmore from the Milltownmalbay county electoral area to the Kilrush county electoral area;

( e ) the addition of the district electoral divisions of Clareabbey, Killone and Ennis Rural (excluding the part thereof in the Ennis county electoral area) to the Milltownmalbay county electoral area; and

( f ) the addition, after the entry in relation to the Milltownmalbay county electoral area, of the following matter—

3 Cork.

3. (1) The total number of members of the Council of the County of Cork shall be 48.

(2) Article (2) of the Cork County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked.

(3) The Schedule to the Cork County Council Order, 1942 is hereby amended by:—

( a ) the addition of the district electoral divisions of Ballyfeard, Ballymartle, Cullen, Dunderrow, Kilmonoge, Kinure, Nohaval, Ovens and Templemichael to the Bandon county electoral area;

( b ) the deletion of the matter relating to the Cork county electoral area; and

( c ) the insertion, after the entry in relation to the Bandon county electoral area, of the following matter—

4 Donegal.

4. (1) The total number of members of the Council of the County of Donegal shall be 29.

(2) Article (2) of the Donegal County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked.

(3) The Schedule to the Donegal County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 51 of 1974 ), as amended by the Donegal County Council (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 123 of 1974 ), is hereby amended by—

( a ) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Altnapaste and Cloghan from the Letterkenny county electoral area to the Glenties county electoral area; and

( b ) the substitution of "7" for "6" in the third column opposite the mention of the Letterkenny county electoral area.

5 Kerry.

5. (1) The total number of members of the Council of the County of Kerry shall be 27.

(2) Article (2) of the Kerry County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked.

(3) The Schedule to the Kerry County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

( a ) the addition of the district electoral divisions of Boolteens, Currans, Kilnanare and Kiltallagh to the Killorglin county electoral area;

( b ) the insertion, after the entry in relation to the Listowel county electoral area, of the following matter—

(3) The Schedule to the Kildare County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 49 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

( a ) The transfer of the district electoral divisions of Ballybracken, Ballyshannon, Harristown, Nurney, Usk and the townlands of Borough, Chapelfarm, Eaglehill, Greatrath, Hillfarm, Ironhills, Millfarm and Rock in the district electoral division of Kilrush from the Kildare county electoral area to the Athy county electoral area;

( b ) the addition of the district electoral division of Kilmeage South and the townlands of Allenwood Middle, Allenwood North, Allenwood South, Ballyteige North and Derrymullen in the district electoral division of Kilmeage North and the townlands of Carrick, Dunbyrne, Grangehiggin, Pluckerstown, Rathernan and Russelstown in the district electoral division of Rathernan to the Kildare county electoral area;

(2) Article (2) of the Limerick County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked,

(3) The Schedule to the Limerick County Council Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 31 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

( a ) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Hospital and Knockainy from the Castleconnell county electoral area to the Kilmallock county electoral area; and

( b ) the substitution of "6" for "5" in the third column opposite the mention of the Bruff county electoral area.

8 Sligo.

8. (1) The total number of members of the Council of the County of Sligo shall be 25.

(2) Article (2) of the Sligo County Council Order, 1942 is hereby revoked.

(3) The Schedule to the Sligo County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 23 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by—

( a ) the addition to the Ballymote county electoral area of:—

the district electoral divisions of Kilmacowen and Knockree; and the following townlands in the district electoral division of Calry (excluding any parts of such townlands in the Borough of Sligo) — Aghamore Near, Carns, Carns (Duke), Cleaveragh Demesne and Tonaphubble and the islands of Cottage, Flat and Green in Lough Gill;

( b ) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Annagh, Cartron and Coolaney from the Tobercurry county electoral area to the Dromore county electoral area;

( c ) the transfer of the district electoral divisions of Cloonoghill, Cuilmore, Kilfree, Kilshalvy and Kilturra from the Ballymote county electoral area to the Tobercurry county electoral area;

( d ) the insertion, after the entry in relation to the Dromore county electoral area, of the following matter—

(3) The Schedule to the Wicklow County Council Order, 1942 as amended by the Wicklow County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 41 of 1974 ) is hereby amended by:—

(a) the substitution of the following matter for the matter relating to the Bray county electoral area—

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to increase the membership of the councils of certain counties and to amend the division of these counties into county electoral areas.
