CLARE COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows:—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Clare County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974.

(2) This Order and the Clare County Council Order, 1942, may be cited collectively as the Clare County Council Orders, 1942 and 1974.

2. The Clare County Council (Amendment) Orders, 1945 and 1956 are hereby revoked.

3. (1) The County of Clare shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Every such county electoral area shall consist of the places set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the Council of the County of Clare to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

4. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division, urban district or townland shall be construed as referring to such district electoral division, urban district or townland as existing at the date of this Order and every reference to a former rural district shall be construed as a reference to that district as constituted immediately before the 1st day of October, 1925.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to divide Clare County into five county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Clare County Council and to fix the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
