FOREIGN POST AMENDMENT (No. 9) WARRANT, 1968.

I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, made in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1967 ), as testified by his signature hereon, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2, 4, 12 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 9) Warrant, 1968.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1969.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.

3. In this Warrant "the Principal Warrant" means the Foreign Post Warrant, 1949 ( S.I. No. 267 of 1949 );

" the Warrant of 1964" means the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 7) Warrant, 1964 ( S.I. No. 123 of 1964 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 16 of the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 8) Warrant, 1965 ( S.I. No. 253 of 1965 ) ) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Warrant.

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 11 of the Warrant of 1964) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 3 of the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1951 ( S.I. No. 59 of 1951 )) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Warrant.

7. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 11 of the Warrant of 1964) of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant.

8. Regulation 5 (1) of the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1956 ( S.I. No. 148 of 1956 ) is hereby amended by the substitution for "1s. 0d." (inserted by Regulation 9 of the Warrant of 1964) of "1s. 4d."

9. Regulation 5 of the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1957 ( S.I. No. 58 of 1957 ) is hereby amended by the substitution for "3d." in both places where that amount is mentioned and for "1½d." (both amounts having been inserted by Regulation 10 of the Warrant of 1964) of "4d." and "2d.", respectively.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant applies to the Foreign Post service and comes into operation on the 1st January, 1969. It authorises increases in the postage rates for letters, postcards, printed packets, printed packets (reduced rate and bulk posting rate), sample packets, small packets, and insured boxes, as well as in fees for the registration and insurance services and for advice of delivery of outgoing registered packets.
