S.I. No. 109/2001 - Foot-And Mouth-Disease (Restriction of Import of Horses and Greyhounds) (No. 2) (Amendment) Order, 2001

I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 ) hereby, for the prevention of spreading of foot-and-mouth disease, order as follows:-

1      (1)    This order may be cited as the Foot-and Mouth-Disease (Restriction of Import of Horses and Greyhounds) (No.2) (Amendment) Order, 2001.

(2)    In this order “horse” includes any member of the equine species.

2              The Foot-and Mouth-Disease (Restriction of Import of Horses and Greyhounds) (No.2) Order, 2001 ( S.I. No. 85 of 2001 ) is amended in Article 2(1) by the substitution for “or France” of “, France or the Netherlands.

The effect of this Order is to extend the prohibition on import of horses and greyhounds without a licence, to horses and greyhounds from the Netherlands.
