WILDLIFE (WILD BIRDS) (OPEN SEASON) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1984.

I, PADDY O'TOOLE, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 8 and 24 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), as adapted by the Fisheries (alteration of name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1978 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 1984.

(2) The Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders 1979 to 1982, and this Order may be cited together as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders, 1979 to 1984.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1979 ).

3. The First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for the entry in Part I:

Wild Birds

Open Season

Red Grouse

From the 1st day of September in any year to the 30th day of September in the same year, both dates inclusive.

Mallard

Teal

From the 1st day of September in any year to the 31st day of January in the following year, both dates inclusive.

Gadwall

Wigeon

Pintail

Shoveler

Scaup

Tufted Duck

Pochard

Goldeneye

Golden Plover

Snipe

Jack Snipe

Grey Partridge

Red-legged Partridge

From the 1st day of November in any year to the 15th day of November in the same year, both dates inclusive.

Cock Pheasant

Woodcock

From the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of January in the following year, both dates inclusive.

4. Part I of the Second Schedule to the Principal Order, as amended by the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 229 of 1980 ), and the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 1982 ( S.I. No. 266 of 1982 ), is hereby amended by the addition of the following paragraph:

"66. Lough Mask in the County of Mayo.

The area comprised of the land for the time being covered by the waters of Lough Mask, County Mayo."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to add Red-legged Partridge to the list of huntable species and to create a Sanctuary on Lough Mask, Co. Mayo.
