COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (OFFICERS' TRAVELLING EXPENSES AND MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1974.

I, MARK CLINTON, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 28 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and section 6 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby make the following regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1974.

(2) The Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 to 1973, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 to 1974.

2. This Order shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1973.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. (1) The Schedule to the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1965 ), as amended by the Regulations referred to in paragraph (2) of this regulation, is hereby amended by—

( a ) the substitution of "£0.084" and " £0.040 " for "£0.070" and "£0.034", respectively, in paragraph 4 (1) (e), and the said paragraph 4(1) (e), as so amended, is set out in the Table to this paragraph.

( e ) A rate of £0.084 per mile for mileage up to four thousand per year and £0.040 per mile for mileage in excess of four thousand per year in respect of the use of a motor-car which the horse power is less than ten;

( b ) the substitution of "£0.094" and "£0.044" for "£0.077" and "£0.038" respectively, in paragraph 4 (1) ( f ), and the said paragraph 4 (1) ( f ), as so amended, is set out in the Table to this paragraph.

( f ) A rate of £0.094 per mile for mileage up to four thousand per year and £0.044 per mile for mileage in excess of four thousand per year in respect of the use of a motor-car of which the horse-power is not less than ten and less than twelve; and

( c ) the substitution of "£0.113" and "£0.050" for "£0.092" and "£0.044" respectively, in paragraph 4 (1) (g), and the said paragraph 4 (1) (g), as so amended, is set out in the Table to this paragraph.

( g ) A rate of £0.113 per mile for mileage up to four thousand per year and £0.050 per mile for mileage in excess of four thousand per year in respect of the use of a motor-car of not less than twelve horse-power.

(2) The Regulations referred to in paragraph (1) of this regulation are the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 183 of 1965 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 126 of 1966 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 60 of 1967 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1969 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 203 of 1969 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 311 of 1970 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 68 of 1971 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972 ( S.I. No. 64 of 1972 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1972 ( S.I. No. 139 of 1972 ) and the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1973 ( S.I. No. 251 of 1973 ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for an increase as from 1st January, 1973 in the rates of travelling expenses payable to officers of Committees of Agriculture.
