COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (OFFICERS' TRAVELLING EXPENSES AND MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES) (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1972.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 28 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and section 6 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby make the following regulations: —

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1972.

(2) The collective citation, "the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 to 1972", shall include these Regulations.

2. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1965 ).

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this Regulation, the Schedule to the Principal Regulations, as amended by the Regulations referred to in paragraph (3) of this Regulation, is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution of "£3.65" for "£3.325" in both places where it occurs and of "£3.35" for "£3.0625" in paragraph 10 (a),

(b) the substitution of "£3.28" and "—2.80 " for "£2.9875" and "£2.55", respectively, in each place where they occur in subparagraphs (b) and (c) of paragraph 10,

(c) the substitution of "£2.74" for "£2.50" in both places where it occurs and of "£2.27" for "£2.0625" in paragraph 10 (d),

(d) the substitution of "£0.58" for "£0.525" in paragraph 11 (b),

(e) the substitution of "£0.50" for "£0.45" in subparagraphs (d) and (f) of paragraph 11, and

(f) the substitution of "£0.48" for "£0.4375" in paragraph 11 (h).

(2) This Regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1971.

(3) The Regulations referred to in paragraph (1) of this Regulation are the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 183 of 1965 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 126 of 1966 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 60 of 1967 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1969 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 203 of 1969 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 311 of 1970 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 68 of 1971 ), and the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972 ( S.I. No. 64 of 1972 ).

5. (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this Regulation, the Schedule to the Principal Regulations, as amended both by the Regulations referred to in paragraph (3) of Regulation 4 of these Regulations and by paragraphs (1) and (2) of that Regulation, is hereby further amended by—

(a) the substitution of "£4.00" for "£3.65" (inserted by these Regulations) in both places where it occurs and of "£3.68" for "£3.35" (also inserted by these Regulations) in paragraph 10 (a).

(b) the substitution of "£3.59" and "£3.07" for "£3.28" and "£2.80", respectively (both inserted by these Regulations), in each place where they occur in subparagraphs (b) and (c) of paragraph 10,

(c) the substitution of "£3.00" for "—2.74" (inserted by these Regulations) in both places where it occurs and of "£2.48" for "£2.27"(also inserted by these Regulations) in paragraph 10 (d),

(d) the substitution of "£0.63" for "£0.58" (inserted by these Regulations) in paragraph 11 (b),

(e) the substitution of "£0.54" for "£0.50" (inserted by these Regulations) in subparagraphs (d) and (f) of paragraph 11, and

(f) the substitution of "£0.52" for "£0.48" (inserted by these Regulations) in paragraph 11 (h).

(2) This Regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1972.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for increases as from 1st January, 1971 and also from 1st January, 1972 in the rates of maintenance expenses in the form of night and day allowances payable to officers of Committees of Agriculture.
