COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (OFFICERS' TRAVELLING EXPENSES AND MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES) (AMENDENT) REGULATIONS, 1970.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 28 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and section 6 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby make the following regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970.

(2) The Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 to 1969, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 to 1970.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this Regulation, the Schedule to the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1965 ), as amended by the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendent) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 183 of 1965 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendent) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 126 of 1966 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 60 of 1967 ), the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1969 ) and the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 203 of 1969 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution of "one shilling and 1.75 pence" and "seven- pence" for "one shilling" and "sixpence halfpenny" respectively in paragraph 4 (1) (e),

(b) the substitution of "one shilling and threepence" and "7.75 pence" for "one shilling and one halfpenny" and "sevenpence" respectively in paragraph 4 (1) (f),

( c ) the substitution of "one shilling and 5.75 pence" for "one shilling and two pence three farthings" in paragraph 4 (1) (g).,

( d ) the substitution of "sixty-six shillings and six pence" for "sixty-two shillings and six pence" in both places where that expression occurs and of "sixty-one shillings and three pence" for "fifty-seven shillings and six pence" in paragraph 10 (a),

( e ) the substitution of "fifty-nine shillings and nine pence" and "fifty-one shillings" for "fifty-six shillings and three pence" and "forty-eight shillings" respectively in each place where these expressions occur in subparagraphs (b) and (c) of paragraph 10,

( f ) the substitution of "fifty"for "forty-seven shillings" in both places where that expression occurs and of "forty-one shillings and three pence" for "thirty-eight shillings and nine pence" in paragraph 10 (d).

( g ) the substitution of "ten shillings and six pence" for "ten shillings" in paragraph 11 (b).

( h ) the substitution of "nine shillings" for "eight shillings and six pence" in sub-paragraphs (d) and (f) of paragraph 11, and

(i) the substitution of "eight shillings and nine pence" for "eight shillings" in paragraph 11 (h).

(2) Subparagraphs (a), (b) and (c) of paragraph (1) of this regulation and subparagraphs (d), (e), (f), (g), (h) and (i) of the said paragraph (1) shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1969, and the 1st day of January, 1970, respectively.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations provide for an increase as from 1st January, 1970 in the rates of maintenance expenses in the form of night and day allowances payable to officers of Committees of Agriculture. They also provide for increases in rates of travelling expenses payable to officers of Committees of Agriculture as from 1st October, 1969.
