EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (ELECTRO-MEDICAL EQUIPMENT USED IN HUMAN OR VETERINARY MEDICINE) (REVOCATION) REGULATIONS 2008

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 6th January, 2009.

I, MARY COUGHLAN, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Directive No. 2008/13/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2008 1 , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Electro-Medical Equipment used in Human or Veterinary Medicine) (Revocation) Regulations 2008.

2. The European Communities (Electro-Medical Equipment used in Human or Veterinary Medicine) Regulations 1988 ( S.I. No. 90 of 1988 ) are revoked with effect from 31 December 2008.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations give effect to Directive 2008/13/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council dated 11 March 2008 and revoke the European Communities (Electro-Medical Equipment used in Human or Veterinary Medicine) Regulations 1988 ( S.I. No. 90 of 1988 ), which transposed Directive 84/539/EEC. The Regulations come into effect on 31 December 2008.
