PRIVATE SECURITY (LICENSING AND STANDARDS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2009

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 23rd October, 2009.

The Private Security Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 51 of the Private Security Services Act 2004 (No. 12 of 2004), with the consent of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, hereby makes the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Amendment) Regulations 2009.

2. These Regulations come into operation on 15 October 2009.

3. The Private Security (Licensing and Standards) Regulations 2005 ( S.I. No. 834 of 2005 ) are amended by substituting for Regulation 5 the following:

“5. (1) Each of the standards specified in column (3) of Table 1 at a particular reference number are prescribed as the standards to be observed in the provision of security services by the category of licensee specified in column (2) at that reference number and are applicable up to 31 December 2009.

(2) Each of the standards specified in column (3) of Table 2 at a particular reference number are prescribed as the standards to be observed in the provision of security services by the category of licensee specified in column (2) at that reference number and are applicable with effect from 1 January 2010.

These Regulations amend Regulation 5 of the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) Regulations 2005 (S.I. 834 of 2005) which prescribes categories of licence and the standards to be observed by licensees in the provision of security services under the Private Security Services Act 2004 .
