LOCAL GOVERNMENT (FINANCIAL PROCEDURES AND AUDIT) REGULATIONS 2002 (AMENDMENT) ORDER 2008

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 18th November, 2008.

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4 and 6 of the Local Government Act 1946 (No. 24 of 1946) and sections 3, 4, 102, 103 and 111 of the Local Government Act 2001 (No. 37 of 2001) as amended, hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Financial Procedures and Audit) Regulations 2002 (Amendment) Order 2008.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 14 day of November, 2008.

3. This Order and the Local Government (Financial Procedures and Audit) Regulations 2002 shall be construed as one and may be cited as “the Local Government (Financial Procedures and Audit) Regulations 2002 — 2008”.

4. On the coming into operation of this Order the Local Government (Financial Procedures and Audit) Regulations 2002 shall have effect with the amendment specified in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULE

Articles 8, 9 and 10 of the Local Government (Financial Procedures and Audit) Regulations 2002 shall be deleted and the following articles substituted therefor:

“8. The prescribed period for the holding of a budget meeting by a county council in respect of a local financial year shall be the 24th day of November of the previous year to 13th day of January of the said local financial year.

9. The prescribed period for the holding of a budget meeting by a city/borough/town council in respect of a local financial year shall be the 24th day of November of the previous year to the 15th day of January of the said local financial year.

10. The 15th day of November to the 16th day of December shall be the prescribed period for the holding of a budget meeting by a joint body and a town council which is not a rating authority in respect of the local financial year then next ensuing.”
