I, MARY COUGHLAN, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Decision No. 2007/833/EC of 13 December 2007 1 , hereby make the following Regulations— | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Foot and Mouth Disease) (Restriction on imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 2) Regulations 2008. | ||
2. The European Communities (Foot and Mouth Disease) (Restriction on imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 2) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 648 of 2007 )) are amended— | ||
(a) in Regulation 2(1), by the substitution for the definition of “Commission Decision” (inserted by the European Communities (Foot and Mouth Disease) (Restriction on imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 2) (Fourth Amendment) Regulations 2007), of— | ||
“Commission Decision” means Commission Decision No. 2007/554/EC of 9 August 2007, Commission Decision No. 2007/608/EC of 13 September 2007, Commission Decision No. 2007/663/EC of 12 October 2007, Commission Decision No. 2007/664/EC of 12 October 2007, Commission Decision No. 2007/746/EC of 19 November 2007, Commission Decision No. 2007/796/EC of 5 December 2007 and Commission Decision No. 2007/833/EC of 13 December 2007;”, | ||
(b) by the deletion of Regulations 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10, and | ||
(c) by the substitution, for Regulation 11, of— | ||
“11. A person shall not have in his or her possession or under his or her control an animal, semen, ova or an embryo brought into the State in contravention of these Regulations.”. | ||
3. The European Communities (Foot and Mouth Disease) (Restriction on imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 2) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and the European Communities (Foot and Mouth Disease) (Restriction on imports from the United Kingdom) (No. 2) (Fourth Amendment) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 814 of 2007 ) are revoked. | ||

These Regulations give effect to Commission Decision (EC) No. 2007/833/EC of 13 December 2007 concerning the removal of certain protection measures concerning imports of products of animal origin from the United Kingdom due to the presence of foot and mouth disease in that country. | ||
