EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (AVIAN INFLUENZA) (AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS) REGULATIONS 2007 | ||

I, MARY COUGHLAN, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Decision 2006/892/EC of 5 December 2006 1 , hereby make the following regulations— | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Amendment of Regulations) Regulations 2007. | ||
2. (1) The European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Control on Imports of Feathers from Certain Third Countries) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 11 of 2006 ) are amended by the substitution, for the definition of “Commission Decision” (inserted by the European Communities (Avian Influenza)(Control on Imports of Feathers from Certain Third Countries)(Amendment) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 126 of 2006 )) in Regulation 2(1), of— | ||
“ ‘Commission Decision’ means Commission Decision 2006/7/EC of 9 January 2006 as amended by Commission Decision 2006/183/EC of 28 February 2006 and Commission Decision 2006/892/EC of 5 December 2006;”. | ||
(2) The European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Control on Imports from Switzerland) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 228 of 2006 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by the substitution for the definition of “Commission Decision”, of— | ||
“ ‘Commission Decision’ means Commission Decision 2006/265/EC of 31 March 2006 as amended by Commission Decision 2006/892/EC of 5 December 2006;”. | ||
3. The following are revoked— | ||
(a) Regulation 2(a) of the European Communities (Avian Influenza)(Control on Imports of Feathers from Certain Third Countries)(Amendment) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 126 of 2006 ) and | ||
(b) Regulation 2(1) of the European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Amendment of Regulations) (No. 3) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 555 of 2006 ). | ||

These Regulations give effect to Commission Decision 2006/892/EC and implement amendments to EU Decisions controlling imports of live birds and poultry from Switzerland and feathers from third countries because of avian influenza. | ||
