European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Products of Plant Origin including Fruit and Vegetables) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2006

I, Mary Coughlan, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No.27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive 2006/60/EC of 7 July 2006¹ , Commission Directive 2006/61/EC of 7 July 2006² and Commission Directive 2006/62/EC of 12 July 2006³ , hereby make the following Regulations:

1.   These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues (Products of Plant Origin including Fruit and Vegetables) (Amendment) (No. 3 Regulations 2006.

2.   The European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Products of Plant Origin including Fruit and Vegetables) Regulations 1999 ( S.I. No. 179 of 1999 ) are amended in Regulation 2 (1) by substituting, for the definition of “Directive” (inserted by the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Products of Plant Origin including Fruit and Vegetables) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 266 of 2006 )), the following -

Explanatory Note

Commission Directive 2006/60/EC amends Annex to Council Directive 90/642/EEC as regards the maximum residue levels of trifloxystrobin, thiabendazole, abamectin, benomyl, carbendazim thiophanate-methyl, myclobutanyl, glyphosate, trimethylsulfonium, fenpropimorph and chlormequat.

Commission Directive 2006/61/EC amends the Annex to Council Directive 90/642/EEC as regards the maximum residue levels of atrazine, azinphos-ethyl, cyfluthrin, ethephon, fenthion methamidophos, methomyl, paraquat and triazophos.

Commission Directive 2006/62/EC amends the Annex to Council Directive 90/642/EEC as regards maximum residue levels for desmedipham, phenmedipham and chlorfenvinphos.
