NATIONAL CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS ACT 1997 (AMENDMENT OF FIRST SCHEDULE) ORDER 2005

I, John O'Donoghue T.D., Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 16(3) of the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 and the Arts and Culture (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 302 of 2002 ) (as adapted by the Tourism, Sport and Recreation (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 309 of 2002 ), with the consent of the Minister for Finance and after consultation with the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, hereby order as follows:

1.       (1)        This Order may be cited as the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (Amendment of First Schedule) Order 2005.

(2)        This Order shall come into operation on 3rd May 2005.

2.       The First Schedule to the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (No. 11 of 1997 is amended by -

(a)        the addition, in column (2) opposite the mention of Board of the National Library of Ireland, of the following premises:

“The premises known as the Heraldic Museum Kildare Street, Dublin.

The premises known as the National Photographic Archive, Meeting House Square, Temple Bar Dublin.

The premises formerly known as the National College of Art and Design building, Leinster Lane Dublin.

The premises at No. 4 Kildare Street, Dublin.

The premises at No. 5 Kildare Street, Dublin.

The premises known as the ‘Racquet Court’ Leinster Lane, Dublin.

The premises known as ‘Ryans Garage’, Leinster Lane, Dublin.

Those parts of the premises known as OPW Drainage Section, Cootehill Road, Monaghan, Co. Monaghan, occupied by the National Library of Ireland.

Those parts of the premises known as Unit 39D Park West Industrial Estate, Clondalkin, Dublin occupied by the National Library of Ireland.

Those parts of the premises known as Trinity College Sports Ground, Santry Book Repository Santry Avenue, Dublin, occupied by the National Library of Ireland.”,

and

(b)        the addition, in column (2) opposite the mention of Board of the National Museum of Ireland, of the following premises:

“The premises known as the Museum of Decorative Arts and History, Collins Barracks, Benburb Street Dublin.

The premises known as the Museum of Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

The premises known as Folklife and Antiquities Division Storage, St. Conleth’s, Daingean, Co. Offaly.

The premises known as Natural History Division Storage, Beggars Bush, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

Those parts of the premises known as Art and Industry Division Storage, Jamestown Road Inchicore, Dublin, occupied by the National Museum of Ireland.

Those parts of the premises known as Irish Antiquities Division Storage and Workshop Conservation Facility, Lanesboro, Co. Roscommon occupied by the National Museum of Ireland.”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This order appoints the day of the 3rd of May 2005 as the day on which amendments to the First Schedule to the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (No. 11 of 1997) which set out the authorised repositories of Bord Leabharlann Náisiúnta na hÉireann and Bord Ard-Mhúsaem na hÉireann will come into effect.
