EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (MECHANICALLY PROPELLED VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1996. | ||
The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to the provisions of Council Directive 94/12/EC1 of 23 March, 1994 , as it relates to air pollution emission controls on mechanically propelled vehicles, hereby makes the following Regulations. | ||
1O.J. No. L. 100/42 of 19.04.1994 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) (Amendment) Regulations, 1996. | ||
(2) These Regulations and the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1995 ) and the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) (Amendment) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 334 of 1995 ) shall be construed together as one. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1997. 3. Article 3(2) of the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) Regulations, 1995 is hereby amended by :— | ||
(a) the substitution in paragraph (a) for "31st day of December, 1996" of "31st day of December, 1997", and the deletion of the words "Directive 93/59/EEC or", | ||
(b) the substitution in paragraph (c) for "1st day of January, 1997" of "1st day of January, 1998". | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
These Regulations alter the transitional technical arrangements for establishing compliance with Directive 94/12/EC, concerning emissions from mechanically propelled vehicles. |
