Duties of salvor, etc.

20.—(1) The salvor of a vessel shall owe the following duties to the owner of the vessel and to the owner or owners of other property in danger, that is to say:

(a) to carry out the salvage operations with due care;

(b) in performing the duty specified in paragraph (a), to exercise due care to prevent or minimize damage to the environment;

(c) whenever circumstances reasonably require, to seek assistance from other salvors;

(d) to accept the intervention of other salvors when reasonably requested to do so by the owner or master of the vessel or the owner of other property in danger.

(2) Where a request under subsection (1) (d) is made to a salvor the amount of the salvor's reward shall not be prejudiced should it be found that the request was unreasonable.
