CUSTOMS (LAND FRONTIER) REGULATIONS, 1988.

I, RAY MACSHARRY, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Customs and Excise (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1988 (No. 10 of 1988), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1988.

(2) The Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1968 and 1978, and these Regulations shall be construed together and may be cited together as the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1968 to 1988.

2. These Regulations shall come into force on the 1st day of December, 1988.

3. The Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations 1968 ( S.I. No. 117 of 1968 ), are hereby amended by the substitution, in paragraph 3 of Article 17, of "forty" for "twenty".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend Article 17 (3) of the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 117 of 1968 ) and 1978 ( S.I. No. 324 of 1978 ) by extending the area within which the powers set out in Article 17 (3) of the 1968 Order may be exercised from twenty to forty miles from the Land Frontier.
