S.I. No. 344/1983 - Money-Lenders Act, 1900 (Section 6(F)) Order, 1983


I, FRANK CLUSKEY, Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 6(f) (inserted by the Industrial and Provident Societies (Amendment) Act, 1978 (No. 23 of 1978)) of the Moneylenders Act, 1900, and the Industry, Commerce and Tourism (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1981 ( S.I. No. 290 of 1981 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Money-lenders Act, 1900 (Section 6(f)) Order, 1983.

6. (a) It is hereby declared that, from the 16th day of November, 1983 the Money-lenders Act, 1900, does not apply to the classes of industrial and provident society to which the Industrial and Provident Societies (Amendment) Act, 1978 (Section 5(3)) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 338 of 1983 ), apply.

(b) This Order shall remain in force in relation to each such class of industrial and provident society for the relevant period specified, in relation to each such class, in the said Industrial and Provident Societies (Amendment) Act, 1978 (Section 5(3)) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 338 of 1983 ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order exempts certain classes of industrial and provident society from the Money-lenders Act, 1900.
