S.I. No. 290/1981 - Industry, Commerce and Tourism (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1981.


The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Industry, Commerce and Tourism (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1981.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 21st day of August 1981.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name whereof is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Tionscail, Tráchtála agus Turasóireachta and, in the English language, the Department of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Trádála, Tráchtála agus Turasóireachta and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of a Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Tionscail, Tráchtála agus Turasóireachta and, in the English language, the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Trádála, Tráchtála agus Turasóireachta and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism.

4. In any enactment—

(a) references to the Department of Industry, Commerce and Tourism shall be construed as references to the Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism;

(b) references to the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism shall be construed as references to the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism.

This Order changes the name of the Department of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to that of the Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism and the title of the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism to that of the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism.
