S.I. No. 155/1978 - European Communities (Surveillance of Certain Clothing and Footwear Imports) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978.


Whereas the State has been authorised under the Decisions of the Commission of the European Economic Communities dated 12th May, 1971 (No. 71/202/EEC) and 9th March, 1973 (No. 73/55/EEC) to take protective measures (the conditions and details of which the Commission has determined under those Decisions):

I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and the Industry and Commerce (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1977 ), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Surveillance of Certain Clothing and Footwear Imports) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978, and shall come into operation on the 9th day of June, 1978.

2. The European Communities (Surveillance of Certain Clothing and Footwear Imports) Regulations, 1975 ( S.I. No. 116 of 1975 ), are hereby amended by the insertion in the Schedule of the following:

"60.02

Gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted, not elastic nor rubberised.

61.09

Corsets, corset-belts, suspender-belts, brassiéres, braces, suspenders, garters and the like (including such articles of knitted or crocheted fabric), whether or not elastic.

61.10

Gloves, mittens, mitts, stockings, socks and sockettes, not being knitted or crocheted goods.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the Instrument is to enable the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy to impose a system of surveillance on imports of the goods mentioned in the Order.
