INSURANCE (INTERMITTENT UNEMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1942 (AMENDMENT OF RATES OF WEEKLY CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUPPLEMENTARY BENEFIT) REGULATIONS, 1977.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 46 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), and the Social Welfare (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 1) Order, 1947 (S. R. & O., No. 18 of 1947), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1977.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 6th day of June, 1977.

2. The Second Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942) as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 , (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1975, ( S.I. No. 279 of 1975 ) is hereby amended—

( a ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 20 new pence for each such rate of 16 new pence and

( b ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 19 new pence for each such rate of 15 new pence and

( c ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 8 new pence for each such rate of 5 new pence.

3. The Third Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1975 is hereby amended—

( a ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 75 new pence for the rate of 65 new pence and

( b ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 68 new pence for the rate of 59 new pence and

( c ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 26 new pence for the rate of 22 new pence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the Regulations is to increase (a) the weekly "Wet-Time" contributions payable by persons insured under the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 , and their employers, and (b) the hourly rates of "Wet-Time" benefit payable under the Act.

The weekly contributions and hourly benefit rates are fixed by these Regulations at the following rates from 6th June, 1977:—
