INSURANCE (INTERMITTENT UNEMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1942 (AMENDMENT OF RATES OF WEEKLY CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUPPLEMENTARY BENEFIT) REGULATIONS, 1975.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 46 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), and the Social Welfare (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 1) Order, 1947 (S.R. & O., No. 18 of 1947), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1975.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1975.

2. The Second Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942) as amended by the Decimal Currency (Daily Rates of Disability Benefit, Unemployment Benefit, Unemployment Assistance and Occupational Injuries Benefit and weekly rates of Intermittent Unemployment Insurance Contributions) Order, 1971 ( S.I. No. 46 of 1971 ) is hereby amended—

( a ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 16 new pence for each such rate of 7 new pence and

( b ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 15 new pence for each such rate of 6 new pence and

( c ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 5 new pence for each such rate of 2 new pence.

3. The Third Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 7 of 1971 ), is hereby amended—

( a ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 65 new pence for the rate of 30 new pence and

( b ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 59 new pence for the rate of 25 new pence and

( c ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 22 new pence for the rate of 10 new pence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the Regulations is to increase (a) the weekly "Wet Time" contributions payable by persons insured under the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 , and their employers and (b) the hourly rates of "Wet Time" benefit payable under the Act.

The weekly contributions and hourly benefit rates are fixed by these Regulations at the following rates from 1st December, 1975:—
