ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY BOROUGH OF CORK AND COUNTY OF CORK) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1973.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Cork and County of Cork) (Amendment) Regulations, 1973.

(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Cork and County of Cork) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 282 of 1968 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Cork and County of Cork) Regulations, 1968 and 1973.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 22nd day of September, 1973.

3. In these Regulations, the "Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Cork and County of Cork) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 282 of 1968 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the deletion at reference 2 (a) of "The Caherdaniel Road",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 2 (d) of "30 yards east of its junction with the Caherdaniel Road" for "300 yard east of its junction with the Glengarriff Road",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 2 (i) of "550" for "90",

(iv) by the addition of the following matter at reference 2—

"( j ) The Caherdaniel Road between the town boundary and a point 210 yards east of its junction with the Drumclough Road.",

(v) by the substitution at reference 3 (j) of "425" for "40",

(vi) by the substitution at reference 8 (c) of "175" for "135",

(vii) by the substitution at reference 8 (h) of "230" for "300",

(viii) by the substitution at reference 9 (c) of "510" for "340",

(ix) by the substitution at reference 9 (f) of "345" for "225",

(x) by the substitution at reference 9 (j) of "220" for "100",

(xi) by the addition at reference 13 (a) of "between the urban boundary and a point 760 yards west of its junction with the Waterford Road",

(xii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 13 (g) and 13 (h).

(xiii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 9 (g), 9 (h) and 9 (i) and the substitution of the following—

"9 (g) The Mallow Bridge—Lower Clyda Bridge road between the urban district boundary and a point 160 yards east of the centre line of Blackrock Railway Bridge.

9 (h) The portion of the Gooldshill—Lower Clyda Bridge road lying inside the urban district boundary."

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following references—

"37. The following roads at Ballycotton:—

( a ) The Cloyne-Ballycotton road eastward and south eastward from a point 100 yards west of its junction with the Ballytrasna Road.

( b ) The Ballytrasna Road for a distance of 60 yards from its junction with the Cloyne-Ballycotton Road.

38. The following roads at Ballyhooley:—

( a ) The Mallow-Fermoy road between a point 100 yards west of its junction with the Glanworth Road and a point 130 yards east of its junction with the Glenville Road.

( b ) The Glanworth Road for a distance of 40 yards from its junction with the Mallow- Fermoy Road.

( c ) The Glenville Road for a distance of 130 yards from its junction with the Mallow- Fermoy road.

39. The following roads at Ballymacoda:—

( a ) The Ladysbridge-Knockadoon road between a point 60 yards west of its junction with the Cloyne Road and a point 600 yards south-east of that junction.

( b ) The Cloyne Road for a distance of 65 yards from its junction with the Ladysbridge-Knockadoon road.

( c ) The Monogoul Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Ladysbridge-Knockadoon road.

40. The following roads at Ballynoe:—

( a ) The Conna-Killeagh road between a point 100 yards north of its junction with the Britway Road and a point 420 yards south of that junction.

( b ) The Longueville Road for a distance of 120 yards from its junction with the Conna-Killeagh road.

( c ) The Britway Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Conna-Killeagh road.

41. The following roads at Banteer:—

( a ) The Millstreet-Lombardstown road between a point 220 yards outh-west of its junction with the Kanturk-Cork road and a point 500 yards north-east of that junction.

( b ) The Kanturk-Cork road between a point 100 yards north-west of its junction with the Millstreet-Lombardstown road and a point 100 yards south-east of that junction.

42. The following roads at Castletownroche:—

( a ) The Fermoy-Mallow road between a point 80 yards south-east of the centre line of the Awbeg Bridge and a point 200 yards south-west of its junction with the Close Road.

( b ) The Close Road for a distance of 120 yards from its junction with the Fermoy Mallow road.

( c ) The Bridgetown Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Fermoy Mallow road.

( d ) The Doneraile Road between its junction with the Fermoy-Mallow road and a point 40 yards north of its junction with New Road.

( e ) New Road.

43. The following roads at Cloyne-:—

( a ) Chapel Street and its continuation as Spital Lane for a distance of 600 yards from its junction with Church Street.

( b ) The Midleton Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with Chapel Street.

( c ) Rock Street and its continuation as the Ladysbridge Road to a point 60 yards west of its junction with the Bohermore Road.

( d ) Church Street and its continuation as the Ballycroneen Road for a distance of 370 yards from its junction with Chapel Street.

( e ) Commons Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with Church Street.

( f ) Spital Cottages, St. Colman's Terrace.

44. The following roads at Conna:—

( a ) The Tallow-Castlelyons road between a point 25 yards west of its junction with the Ballynoe Road and a point 180 yards west of its junction with the Monagoun Road.

( b ) The Fermoy Road for a distance of 25 yards from its junction with the Tallow- Castlelyons road.

( c ) The Monagoun Road for a distance of 30 yards from its junction with the Tallow-Castlelyons road.

45. The following roads at Crookstown:—

( a ) The Macroom-Ballincollig road through Crookstown between the centre line of Crookstown Bridge and a point 10 yards west of the junction of that road with the Bandon Road.

( b ) The Bealnablath Road for a distance of 260 yards from its junction with the Macroom-Ballincollig road through Crookstown.

46. The following roads at Dromahane:—

( a ) The Sugar Factory-Bweeng road between a point 180 yards north of its junction with the Mallow Road and a point 70 yards south-west of its junction with the Mourne Abbey Road.

( b ) The Mourne Abbey Road for a distance of 350 yards from its junction with the Sugar Factory-Bweeng road.

( c ) The Mallow Road for a distance of 200 yards from its junction with the Sugar Factory-Bweeng road.

( d ) The Glantane Road for a distance of 510 yards from its junction with the Sugar Factory-Bweeng road.

47. The following roads at Dromina:—

( a ) The Milford-Liscarroll road between a point 100 yards north west of its junction with the Rathluirc Road and a point 300 yards south of its junction with the Freemount Road.

( b ) The Rathluirc Road for a distance of 400 yards from its junction with the Milford-Liscarroll road.

( c ) The Freemount Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Milford-Liscarroll road.

48. The following roads at Durrus:—

( a ) The Bantry-Schull road between a point 120 yards north of its junction with the Drimoleague Road and a point 150 yards south of its junction with the Kilcrohane Road.

( b ) The Drimoleague Road for a distance of 350 yards from its junction with the Bantry-Schull road.

( c ) The School Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with the Bantry-Schull road.

( d ) The Kilcrohane Road for a distance of 450 yards from its junction with the Bantry-Schull road.

49. The following roads at Freemount-:—

( a ) The Rathluirc-Newmarket road between a point 150 yards north-east of its junction with Chapel Road and a point 450 yards south west of that junction.

( b ) The Tullylease Road for a distance of 70 yards from its junction with the Rathluirc-Newmarket road.

( c ) Chapel Road for a distance of 320 yards from its junction with the Rathluirc-Newmarket road.

( d ) The Kilberehert Road for a distance of 70 yards from its junction with Chapel Road.

50. The following roads at Glanworth:—

( a ) The Kildorrery-Fermoy road between a point 10 yards north-west of its junction with Barry Park and a point 30 yards south-west of its junction the with Ballyhooley Road.

( b ) The Mitchelstown Road for a distance of 40 yards from its junction with the Kildorrery-Fermoy road.

( c ) The Castletownroche Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Kildorrery-Fermoy road.

( d ) The Ballyhooley Road for a distance of 30 yards from its junction with the Kildorrery-Fermoy road.

( e ) The Labbacallee Road for a distance of 60 yards from its junction with the Kildorrery-Fermoy road.

( f ) The Kilworth Road between its junction with the Kildorrery-Fermoy road and a point 55 yards east of the centre line of Glanworth Bridge.

( g ) Barry Park.

51. The following roads at Killavullen:—

( a ) The Doneraile-Cork road between a point 100 yards north-east of the centre line of Killavullen Bridge and a point 250 yards south of its junction with the Mallow Road.

( b ) The Mallow Road for a distance of 160 yards from its junction with the Doneraile-Cork road.

( c ) The Ballyhooley Road for a distance of 170 yards from its junction with the Doneraile-Cork road.

52. The following roads at Killeens:—

( a ) The Cork-Blarney road between a point 200 yards east of its junction with the Blackstone Bridge Road and a point 50 yards west of its junction with the Shovel Mills Road.

( b ) The Blackstone Bridge Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Cork-Blarney road.

( c ) The Shoevel Mills Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with the Cork-Blarney road.

53. The following roads at Knocknagree:—

( a ) The Rathmore-Ballydesmond road between a point 230 yards north of its junction with the Fair Green and a point 220 yards south of that junction.

( b ) Market Square and its continuation as the Boherbue Road for a distance of 590 yards from its junction with the Rathmore-Ballydesmond road.

( c ) The Gneeveguilla Road for a distance of 35 yards from its junction with the Rathmore-Ballydesmond road.

54. The following roads at Milford:—

( a ) The Rathluirc-Drumcolliher road between a point 680 yards west of its junction with the Scart Road and a point 250 yards south-east of that junction.

( b ) The Scart Road for a distance of 180 yards from its junction with the Rathluirc-Drumcolliher road.

( c ) The Doony Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Rathluirc-Drumcolliher road.

55. The following roads at Newtownshandrum:—

( a ) The Rathluirc-Drumcolliher road between a point 400 yards south of its junction with the Ballyagran Road and a point 510 yards west of that junction.

( b ) The Glengarriff Road for a distance of 20 yards from its junction with the Rathluirc-Drumcolliher road.

( c ) Bohereenaniska for a distance of 10 yards from its junction with the Rathluirc-Drumcolliher road.

56. The following roads at Rockchapel:—

( a ) The Newmarket-Abbeyfeale road between a point 50 yards south-east of its junction with the Tournafulla Road and a point 280 yards south-west of that junction.

( b ) The Tournafulla Road for a distance of 170 yards from its junction with the Newmarket-Abbeyfeale road.

57. The following roads at Lower Shanbally:—

( a ) The Ringaskiddy Road for a distance of 80 yards from Shanbally Cross Roads.

( b ) The Lower Shanbally Road for a distance of 240 yards from Shanbally Cross Roads.

( c ) The Shanbally Cottage Road for a distance of 100 yards from Shanbally Cross Roads.

( d ) The Rafeen Road for a distance of 300 yards from Shanbally Cross Roads.

58. The following road adjacent to the urban district of Youghal:—

Those portions of the road connecting the Killeagh Road with the Claycastle Strand Road lying outside the urban boundary.

6. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended as follows:—

(i) by the substitution at reference 5 (a) of "350" for "300",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 7 (a) of "750" for "320",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 7 (b) of "420" for "170",

(iv) by the substitution at reference 7 (c) of "240" for "50",

(v) by the addition of the following matter at reference 7—

"( f ) The Donnybrook Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Cork-Crosshaven road.",

( b ) The Dispensary Road for a distance of 130 yards from its junction with the Fermoy-Dungourney road.

( c ) The Ballinvarrig Road for a distance of 20 yards from its junction with the Fermoy-Dungourney road.

( d ) The Ballyarra Road for a distance of 200 yards from its junction with the Fermoy-Dungourney road.

29. The following road at Millstreet:—

The Mallow Road between a point 135 yards west of its junction with the Tullig Road and a point 455 yards north-east of that junction.

30. The following road at Newtown-Roscarberry:—

The Clonakilty-Skibbereen road between a point 100 yards north-west of its junction with Closheen Lane and a point 150 yards south-east of its junction with Tanyard Lane.

31. The following road at Halfway (Ballinhassig):—

The Bandon-Cork road between a point 250 yards east of its junction with the Crossbarry Road and a point 700 yards east of that junction".

8. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended as follows:—

(i) by the substitution at reference 1(b) of "860" for "560",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 3 (a) of "50 yards south-east" for "10 yards west",

(iii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 3—

"( c ) The Newmarket Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Mallow-Tralee road.",

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Cork and County of Cork) Regulations, 1968, ( S.I. No. 282 of 1968 ) and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in the city and county of Cork.
