TELEGRAPH (INLAND WRITTEN TELEGRAM) AMENDMENT (No. 12) WARRANT, 1971.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the regulations contained in the following Warrant:

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 12) Warrant, 1971.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 15th day of February, 1971.

2. In this Warrant—

"the 1955 Warrant" means the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 6) Warrant, 1955 ( S.I. No. 144 of 1955 );

"the 1964 Warrant" means the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 9) Warrant, 1964 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1964 );

"the 1970 Warrant" means the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 11) Warrant, 1970 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1970 ).

3. The Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Regulations, 1920, are hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution of the following for Regulation 20 (inserted by Regulation 6 of the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1928 (S.R. and O., No. 45 of 1928)):

"6. A telegram may, at the request of the sender, be delivered at several addresses within the limits of the free delivery of the Terminal Telegraph Office, and in such case 5p shall be charged and paid for the delivery of the telegram at each address after the first. Accordingly if, for example, a telegram contained a message of ten words of text and the following addresses (which contain twelve words):—

O'Dwyer,

Clery,

the telegram would be charged for as follows: 22 words in text and addresses, 70p; 5 copies at 5p each, 25p; total 95p".;

(b) the substitution in Regulation 7 (1) for " 9d." (inserted by Regulation 3 (i) of the 1964 Warrant) of "3½p";

(c) the substitution in Regulation 27 for "1s. 0d." (inserted by Regulation 3 (ii) of the 1964 Warrant) of "5p";

(d) the substitution in Regulation 32 (2), as amended by Regulation 13 of the 1955 Warrant, for references to "8s. 0d." and "9s. 0d." (inserted by Regulation 3 of the 1970 Warrant) of references to "40p" and "45p", respectively;

(e) the substitution in Regulation 34 (2) (a) for "2s. 6d.", "5s. 0d.", "sum of two guineas" and "two guineas per annum" (inserted by Regulation 15 (1) of the 1955 Warrant) of "12½p", "25p", "sum of £2.10" and "£2.10 per annum", respectively;

(f) the substitution in Regulation 34 (2) (b) for "10s. Od." (inserted by Regulation 15 (2) of the 1955 Warrant) of "50p";

(g) the substitution in Regulation 36 for "1d." of "½p".

4. The 1955 Warrant shall be amended by—

(a) the substitution in Regulation 4 (a) for "8s. Od." (inserted by Regulation 5 (a) of the 1970 Warrant) of "40p";

(b) the substitution in Regulation 4 (b) for "8s. Od." and "8d." (both inserted by Regulation 5 (b) of the 1970 Warrant) of "40p" and "3p", respectively;

(c) the substitution in Regulation 5 (a) for "9s. Od." (inserted by Regulation 5 (c) of the 1970 Warrant) of "45p";

(d) the substitution in Regulation 5 (b) for "9s. 0d." and "9d." (both inserted by Regulation 5 (d) of the 1970 Warrant) of "45p" and "34p", respectively;

(e) the substitution in Regulation 6 for "Is. 6d." (inserted by Regulation 5 (v) of the 1964 Warrant) of "7½p";

(f) the substitution in Regulation 7 (1) (a) for "8s. 0d." (inserted by Regulation 5 (e) of the 1970 Warrant) of "40p";

(g) the substitution for "9s. 0d." in Regulation 7 (1) (b) (inserted by Regulation 5 (f) of the 1970 Warrant) of "45p";

(h) the substitution in Regulation 7 (6) (a) for "9d." of "3½p";

(i) the substitution in Regulation 9 (1) (a) for "2s. 6d." (inserted by Regulation 5 (viii) of the 1964 Warrant) of 12½p";

(j) the substitution in Regulation 9 (1) (b) for "2s. 6d." and "5d." (both inserted by Regulation 5 (ix) of the 1964 Warrant) of "12½p" and "2p", respectively;

(k) the substitution in Regulation 10 (a) for "8s. 0d." and "16s. 0d." (both inserted by Regulation 5 (g) of the 1970 Warrant) of "40p" and "80p", respectively;

(l) the substitution in Regulation 10 (b) for "9s. 0d." and "16s. 0d." (both inserted by Regulation 5 (h) of the 1970 Warrant) of "45p" and "80p" respectively;

(m) the substitution in Regulation 16 for "8s. 0d." in both places where that amount is mentioned (having been inserted by Regulation 5 (i) of the 1970 Warrant) of "40p".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The foregoing Instrument revises as from 15th February, 1971, certain internal telegraph charges and also certain telegraph charges to Great Britain and the Six Counties on the introduction of decimal currency.
