IMPORTATION OF DOGS AND CATS (AMENEMENT) (No. 3) ORDER, 1970.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 10 and 33 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Importation of Dogs and Cats (Amendment) (No. 3) Order, 1970.

(2) The collective citation, the Importation of Dogs and Cats Orders, 1929 to 1970, shall include this Order.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1970.

3. (1) The Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 (Amendment) Order, 1969 ( S.I. No. 204 of 1969 ), and the Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1969 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1969 ), are hereby revoked.

(2) The Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 ( S. R. & O No. 4 of 1929 ), shall have effect as if neither of the Orders mentioned in paragraph (1) of this Article had been made.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order removes the restrictions on the importation of canine and feline animals from Great Britain and the Channel Islands, which were imposed under the Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 (Amendment) Order, 1969.
