IMPORTATION OF DOGS AND CATS ORDER OF 1929 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1969.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 10 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 (Amendment) Order, 1969.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 27th day of October, 1969.

3. Article 1 of the Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 ( S. R. & O. No. 4 of 1929 ), shall be construed and have effect as if each of the references therein to the following countries, namely, Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man were deleted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order prohibits the importation of dogs and cats from Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man except under licence and subject to the requirement that a dog or cat so imported must undergo detention and isolation in an approved quarantine premises for a period of at least six months immediately following importation.
