HARBOUR AUTHORITIES (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) RULES, 1970.

I, BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 9 (7) of the Harbours Act, 1947 (No. 34 of 1947), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby make the following rules—

1. These rules may be cited as the Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1970.

2. The allowance to be paid under paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) of section 9 (7) of the Harbours Act, 1947 (No. 34 of 1947), to a member of a harbour authority in respect of absence from his official residence by reason of attendance at a meeting or meetings to which either such paragraph relates shall not exceed—

(a) 25s. 0d. in respect of a continuous period of less than seven hours and not less than three hours, and

(b) 35s. 0d. in respect of a continuous period of not less than seven hours.

3. The form set out in the Schedule hereto is the form to be used in respect of applications under these rules.

4. The Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1961, ( S.I. No. 75 of 1961 ) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Rules is to provide for increases in the allowances which may be paid by a Harbour Authority to members in respect of attendance at meetings of the Authority.
