HARBOUR AUTHORITIES (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) RULES, 1961.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (7) of section 9 of the Harbours Act, 1947 (No. 34 of 1947), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby make the following rules :—

1. These rules may be cited as the Harbour Authorities (Allowances to Members) Rules, 1961.

2. The allowance to be paid under paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) of subsection (7) of section 9 of the Harbours Act, 1947 (No. 34 of 1947), to a member of a harbour authority in respect of absence from his official residence by reason of attendance at a meeting or meetings to which either such paragraph relates shall be—

(a) 4s. 6d. in respect of a continuous period of less than seven hours and not less than three hours, and

(b) 7s. in respect of a continuous period of not less than seven hours.

3. The form set out in the Schedule hereto is the form to be used in respect of applications under these rules.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to make rules for the calculation of allowances which may be paid by a Harbour Authority to members whose attendance at meetings of the Harbour Authority involves absence from their official residences for a continuous period of not less than three hours and the places at which such meetings are held are not less than three miles by any route from their official residences.
