SOCIAL WELFARE (WIDOWS' AND ORPHANS' (CONTRIBUTORY) PENSIONS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1969.

The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and section 28A of the said Act (inserted therein by section 10 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960) as amended by section 6 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1966 (No. 24 of 1966)), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969.

(2) The Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to 1968, and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to 1969.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 2nd day of January 1970.

3. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 ( S.I. No. 235 of 1966 ) as substituted by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 235 of 1968 ).

Reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where contribution conditions are partially satisfied.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to 1968, which provide for payment of reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where the contribution conditions are partially satisfied, for the purpose of increasing as from 2 January, 1970, these reduced rates to 72/6d., 70/-, 67/6d. and 65/- from 62/6d., 60/-, 57/6d. and 55/- respectively in the case of widows with no qualified child, and to 75/-, 72/6d., 70/- and 67/6d. from 67/6d., 65/-, 62/6d. and 60/- respectively in the case of widows with qualified children.
