SOCIAL WELFARE (WIDOWS' AND ORPHANS' CONTRIBUTORY) (PENSIONS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1968.

The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No 11 of 1952) and section 28A of the said Act (inserted therein by section 10 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960) and amended by section 6 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1966 (No. 24 of 1966)), hereby makes the following Regulations : —

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1968.

(2) The Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 and 1967, and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 to 1968.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 3rd day of January, 1969.

3. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966, ( S.I. No. 235 of 1966 ) as inserted by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 299 of 1967 ).

SCHEDULE.

Reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where contribution conditions are partially satisfied.

Average number of contributions paid or credited per contribution year in the relevant period.

Reduced weekly rates at which pension is payable.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Widows' and Orphans' (Contributory) Pensions) Regulations, 1966 and 1967, which provide for payment of reduced rates of widows' (contributory) pensions where the contribution conditions are partially satisfied, for the purpose of increasing as from 3rd January, 1969, these reduced rates to 62/6, 60/-, 57/6 and 55/- from 55/-, 52/6, 50/- and 47/6 respectively in the case of widows with no qualified child, and to 65/-, 62/6, 60/- and 57/6 from 57/6, 55/-, 52/6 and 50/- respectively in the case of widows with qualified children.
