IMPORTATION OF WOOL AND IMPORTATION OF CARCASSES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS (PROHIBITION) ORDERS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1968.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 10 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Importation of Wool and Importation of Carcasses and Animal Products (Prohibition) Orders (Amendment) Order, 1968.

2. Article 4 of the Importation of Wool Order, 1946 (S. R. & O. No. 253 of 1946), as amended by the Importation of Wool Order, 1946 (Amendment) Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 113 of 1954 ), shall be construed and have effect as if the Importation of Wool (Amendment) Order, 1967 ( S. I. No. 247 of 1967 ), had not been made and accordingly the last-mentioned Order is hereby revoked.

3. The Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 201 of 1966 ), shall be construed and have effect as if the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) (Amendment) Order, 1967 (No. 246 of 1967), had not been made and accordingly the last-mentioned Order is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to remove the temporary controls, introduced as a precautionary measure against the introduction of Foot and Mouth Disease, on the importation from Great Britain of

( a ) wool produced in an excepted country, and

( b ) hides and skins, cow hair, horse hair, goat hair, pigs bristles, carded or combed animal hair, bone charcoal, bone phosphates and sera and antisera.

In regard to (b) the conditions, if any, prescribed in the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966, in relation to any of the products mentioned will continue to apply.
