IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 112) (WATCHES) ORDER, 1961.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1959 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 112) (Watches) Order, 1961.

2. The duty of customs imposed by paragraph 3 of and mentioned at reference number 9 in the First Schedule to the Imposition of duties (No. 28) (Special Import Levies and Miscellaneous Customs Duties) Order, 1958 ( S.I. No. 92 of 1958 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 1st day of September, 1961, be varied by—

(a) the substitution of "twenty-five shillings" for "thirty shillings" (inserted by the Imposition of Duties (No. 94) (Watches) Order, 1960 ( S.I. No. 156 of 1960 )) in column (3) of the said Schedule at the said reference number, and

(b) the substitution of "sixteen shillings and eight pence" for "twenty shillings" (inserted by the said Imposition of Duties (No. 94) (Watches) Order, 1960)) in column (4) of the said Schedule at the said reference number.

3. The duty of customs imposed by the said paragraph 3 of and mentioned at the said reference number 9 in the said Imposition of Duties (No. 28) (Special Import Levies and Miscellaneous Customs Duties) Order, 1958 shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 1st day of March, 1962, be varied by—

(a) the substitution of "twenty shillings" for "twenty-five shillings" (inserted by paragraph 2 of this Order) in the said column (3) of the said Schedule at the said reference number, and

(b) the substitution of "thirteen shillings and four pence"

for "sixteen shillings and eight pence" (inserted by paragraph 2 of this Order) in the said column (4) of the said Schedule at the said reference number.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the above Order is to reduce the minimum specific Customs duty on watches and certain watch parts (a) from 30/- (full) 20/- (U.K. and Canada) to 25/- (full) 16/8d. (U.K. and Canada) with effect from the 1st of September, 1961; and (b) to 20/- (full) 1¾d. (U.K. and Canada) with effect from the 1st March, 1962.
