COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (SALARIES OF OFFICERS) REGULATIONS, 1952 (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1961.

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 27 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and section 6 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), hereby make the following regulations :

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 (Amendment) Regulations, 1961.

(2) These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1960.

(3) The Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 to 1960, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 to 1961.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. The following paragraph is hereby substituted for paragraph 9 of the Schedule to the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 ( S.I. No. 317 of 1952 ):

" 9. (1) (a) Subject to the provisions of paragraph 4 of this Schedule, the scale of salary for persons who on the date of the making of the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 (Amendment) Regulations, 1961, were Clerical Assistants to Chief Agricultural Officers shall be as follows :

male officers—£418—£22—£748—£12—£760 ;

female officers—£392—£19—£658—£2—£660.

(b) The salary payable under subparagraph (a) of this paragraph to an officer who has not attained the age of twenty-one years on the date of the making of the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 (Amendment) Regulations, 1961, shall be reduced until such time as the officer attains the age of twenty-one years—(a) in the case of a male officer, by £13 0s. 0d. per annum, and (b) in the case of a female officer, by £7 0s. 0d. per annum.

(2) Subject to the provisions of paragraph 4 of this Schedule, the scale of salary for persons who are appointed Clerical Assistants to Chief Agricultural Officers on a date subsequent to the date of the making of the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 (Amendment) Regulations, 1961, shall be as follows :

male officers—£350—£26—£740—£20—£760 :

female officers—£320—£22—£650—£10—£660."

4. Neither Regulation 3 of the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 (Amendment) Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 69 of 1956 ), as amended, nor Regulation 3 of the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1952 (Amendment) Regulations, 1958 ( S.I. No. 140 of 1958 ), as amended, shall apply to a salary payable to a Clerical Assistant to a Chief Agricultural Officer.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations prescribe new consolidated scales of salary for Clerical Assistants to Chief Agricultural Officers of Committees of Agriculture.
