TRADE UNION ACT, 1951.


AN ACT TO EXTEND FOR TWELVE MONTHS THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 2 OF THE TRADE UNION ACT, 1947 , AND TO PROVIDE FOR OTHER MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH. [4th July, 1951.]

BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS:—

Act of 1947.

1.—In this Act, the expression “the Act of 1947” means the Trade Union Act, 1947 (No. 17 of 1947).

Extension of section 2 of the Act of 1947.

2.—Section 2 of the Act of 1947 is hereby amended by the substitution, for references to the period commencing on the passing of that Act and ending on the 8th day of July, 1951, inserted therein by the Trade Union Act, 1950 (No. 19 of 1950), of references to the period commencing on such passing and ending on the 8th day of July, 1952.

Continuance of existing orders.

3.—Every order—

(a) made under subsection (1) of section 2, or continued in force by section 3, of the Act of 1947, and

(b) in force on the 8th day of July, 1951, shall continue in force until the 8th day of July, 1952, unless previously revoked.

Short title and collective citation.

4.—(1) This Act may be cited as the Trade Union Act, 1951.

(2) The Trade Union Acts, 1871 to 1950, and this Act may be cited together as the Trade Union Acts, 1871 to 1951.
