Amendment of Johnstown Castle Agricultural College (Amendment) Act, 1959. |
1.—The Johnstown Castle Agricultural College (Amendment) Act, 1959 , is hereby amended by the substitution for section 3 of the following section: | |
“3.—(1) The Estate shall, subject to the provisions of this section, be used as a lay agricultural college and for the conduct of agricultural research and for no other purpose whatever. | ||
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 27 of the Agriculture (Research, Training and Advice) Act, 1988 , Teagasc— | ||
(a) may dispose of such part of the Estate as it may determine but not exceeding 5 per cent. of the land comprised therein on the commencement of the Johnstown Castle Agricultural College (Amendment) Act, 1996, for use for environmental, heritage, amenity or recreational purposes, and | ||
(b) may lease to the Environmental Protection Agency, for use by it for the purposes of the Environmental Protection Agency, such part of the Estate as may be determined by Teagasc. | ||
(3) Land disposed of under paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of this section shall be used only for a purpose specified in that paragraph and land leased under paragraph (b) of that subsection shall be used only for a purpose specified in that paragraph.”. |
