CONTROL OF FISHING FOR MACKEREL ORDER, 1984.

I, PADDY O'TOOLE, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 223A (inserted by the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 27 of 1983)) of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959 (No. 14 of 1959), and the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1977 ) (as adapted by the Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1978 )), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Fishing for Mackerel Order, 1984, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1984.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order", means the Control of Fishing for Mackerel Order, 1983 ( S.I. No. 97 of 1983 ).

3. The Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of "30th day of April, 1984" for "29th day of February, 1984" in Article 3.

4. Any reference to the 29th day of February, 1984, in any licence granted under the Principal Order which, immediately before the commencement of this Order, was in force shall be construed as a reference to the 30th day of April, 1984.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order extends the period of application of the Control of Fishing for Mackerel Order, 1983, which prohibits fishing for mackerel by vessels exceeding 55 feet in length except under licence issued by the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, up to and including 30th April, 1984. The Order also extends to 30th April, 1984 the period of validity of licences which are in force prior to the date on which it comes into operation.
