NATURE RESERVE (GRANTSTOWN WOOD AND GRANSTON LOUGH) ESTABLISHMENT ORDER, 1982.

I, PADDY O'TOOLE, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, after consultation with the Minister for Agruculture, the Minister for Transport and the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, being satisfied that the lands specified in Article 2 of the following Order, being lands to which section 15 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), applies, include woodland and lake ecosystems which are of scientific interest and that the said ecosystems are likely to benefit if measures are taken for their protection and that it is desirable to establish the said lands as a nature reserve and that the proper management of the lands as a nature reserve would not be precluded by any interest of any other person in or over the said lands, for the purpose of conserving the said ecosystems do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 of the said Act, as adapted by the Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1978 ), order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Nature Reserve (Grantstown Wood and Granston Lough) Establishment Order, 1982.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 31st day of December, 1982.

2. (1) It is hereby declared that the land specified in paragraph (2) of this Article shall constitute and there is hereby established a nature reserve.

(2) The land referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article is all that part of the land known as Grantstown Wood (or Court Wood and Lough Wood) and Granston Lough situate in the townlands of Court, Shanvaghey, Grantstown, Oldglass and Tintore in the county of Laois, other than any part thereof which forms part of a public road (if any) provided after the making of this Order, and which is referred to in the map contained in the Schedule to this Order and thereon delineated in red.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The order establishes part of the lands situate in the townlands of Court, Shanvaghey, Grantstown, Oldglass and Tintore, Co. Laois as a nature reserve so that it can be managed in such a way as to ensure the conservation of the woodland and lake ecosystems which it constitutes.
