MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (No. 23) REGULATIONS, 1979.

I, TOM FITZPATRICK, Minister of State at the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Post Office Act, 1908, and section 3 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969), and the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 3 of 1978 ), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 23) Regulations, 1979.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1979.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. Regulation 18 (1) of the Money Order Regulations, 1903, is hereby amended by the substitution of the following tables for Table A (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 22) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 51 of 1977 ) and Table B (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 21) Regulations, 1975 ( S.I. No. 317 of 1975 )) which set out the poundage payable in respect of money orders:

In respect of inland money orders:

for an amount not exceeding £50.00

42p

for an amount exceeding £50 but not exceeding £100.00

In respect of foreign money orders:

for an amount not exceeding £25.00

50p

for an amount exceeding £25.00 but not exceeding £50.00

100p

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This warrant applies to the Money Order service and comes into operation on the 1st August, 1979. It authorises increases in charges on inland and foreign orders.
