FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (No. 13) WARRANT, 1979.

I, TOM FITZPATRICK, Minister of State at the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2 , 3 and 6 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 , (No. 18 of 1969), and the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 3 of 1978 ), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows:—

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 13) Warrant, 1979.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of August 1979.

2. In this Warrant "the Principal Warrant" means the Foreign Parcel Post Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1953 ).

3. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by a substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 12) Warrant, 1977 ( S.I. No. 214 of 1977 )) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Warrant.

4. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 11) Warrant, 1977 ( S.I. No. 50 of 1977 )) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

5. Part I (inserted by Regulation 6 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 12) Warrant, 1977) and Part II (inserted by Regulation 7 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 8) Warrant, 1971 ( S.I. No. 199 of 1971 )) of the Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant are hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in Third Schedule to this Warrant.

6. The fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 11) Warrant, 1977) of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Warrant applies to the Foreign Parcel Post service and comes into operation the 1st August, 1979. It authorises an increase in the maximum postage which may be charged on a foreign surface parcel from £12 to £15 and on a foreign air parcel from £2.00 to £2.50 per 250g. It also authorises increases in fees charged, the Insurance, Customs Clearance and Cash-on-Delivery services and for increases in compensation in respect of insured and uninsured parcels.
