MAXIMUM PRICES (SUGAR) (No. 2) ORDER, 1974.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), and the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Sugar) (No. 2) Order, 1974.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 30th day of November, 1974.

3. The maximum prices at which standard granulated white sugar may be sold by retail shall be—

( a ) in the case of a package containing 1 lb. of such sugar, 8½p;

( b ) in the case of a package containing 2 lbs. of such sugar, 16½p;

( c ) in the case of a package containing more than 2 lbs. of such sugar, a price calculated at the rate of 16½p per 2 lbs.

4. The Maximum Prices (Sugar) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 241 of 1974 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the maximum retail prices which may be charged for sugar (standard granulated white).
