FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (No. 6) WARRANT, 1968.

I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, made in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1967 ), as testified by his signature hereon, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2, 4, 12 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 6) Warrant, 1968.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1969.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Warrant.

3. In this Warrant "the Principal Warrant" means the Foreign Parcel Post Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1953 ).

4. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 9 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1959 ( S.I. No. 48 of 1959 )) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Warrant.

5. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1964 ( S.I. No. 124 of 1964 )) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

6. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein in Part I (inserted by Regulation 9 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1959) and therein in Part II (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1964) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Warrant.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant applies to the Foreign Parcel Post service and comes into operation on the 1st January, 1969. It authorises an increase in the maximum postage for a parcel sent by surface mail. It also authorises increases in the fees chargeable for Customs clearance of incoming dutiable parcels, the advice of delivery fee and the compensation fees on outgoing insured parcels as well as increases in the amounts of compensation payable in respect of outgoing parcels.
