ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1967.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) after consultation with the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and the road authority concerned and, as respects article 4, on the application of the said Commissioner hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1967.

(2) These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963 to 1967 shall be construed as one and these Regulations shall be included in the expression "the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963 to 1967."

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1967.

3. In these Regulations "Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1963 ).

4. (1) Article 6 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following sub-articles—

"(2) Fifty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations.

(3) Sixty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Fifth Schedule to these Regulations."

(2) The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following Schedules:—

"FOURTH SCHEDULE

Roads in respect of which a special speed limit of 50 miles per hour is prescribed.

The following road in and adjacent to the Urban District of Naas in the County of Kildare:

The Dublin-Naas road dual-carriageway and its continuation as the Dublin-Naas road between a point 450 yards north-east of its junction with the Golf Club Road (Johnstown Cross) and a point 830 yards south-west of the boundary of the Urban District of Naas.

FIFTH SCHEDULE

Roads in respect of which a special speed limit of 60 miles per hour is prescribed.

The following road in the County of Kildare:—

The Dublin-Naas road dual-carriageway between the boundary of the Counties of Kildare and Dublin and a point 450 yards north-east of its junction with the Golf Club Road (Johnstown Cross)."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of these regulations is to impose special speed limits of 50 m.p.h. and 60 m.p.h. on sections of the Dublin-Naas road not previously subject to a speed limit.
