S.I. No. 3 of 1962.

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Destructive Insects and Pests (Consolidation) Act, 1958 (No. 11 of 1958), for the purpose of preventing the introduction into the State of the Colorado beetle, hereby order as follows :

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Colorado Beetle Order, 1962.

(2) The Colorado Beetle Order, 1945 ( S. R. & O. No. 228 of 1945 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Colorado Beetle Orders, 1945 and 1962.

(3) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1962.

2. The Colorado Beetle Order, 1945, shall have effect subject to the insertion of " dried canes without roots, bamboo tapers, raffia, whisk tops, dried teazles, dried seagrass, willow sticks, golden rushes, broom corn, timber without roots attached or " before " elm trees " in paragraph (1) of Article 3.

GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 15th day of January, 1962.

Minister for Agriculture.

The effect of this Order is to exclude the items enumerated in paragraph 2 from the definition of the word " plants " in the Colorado Beetle Order, 1945, and so make it unnecessary to apply for a licence under that Order for the importation of these products.
